Art Rock was initially confined to the United Kingdom and the United States, though not necessarily the major cities you would guess.
In the United States, Art Rock first appeared in California, particularly in Los Angeles and then, more famously, in San Francisco. In scene in New York emerged right around the same time. There were other smaller scenes, such as the one in Austin.
In the UK, Art Rock's development initially occurred in London but Canterbury soon became a major hub as well.
But Art Rock soon expanded beyond these cities throughout both countries and moved into other countries, such as Canada and many European countries. Brazil also soon developed an Art Rock scene.
